hey theres :) welcome to my little blog here.
my name is jen. or as I have come to be nicknamed over the years, punky.
some words about me:
i'm a feisty twenty-five year old, recent college graduate, who likes to run for fun and eat jelly beans for breakfast. (& compose/engage in sentences/activities that are often ironic.)
i'm the product of one hot brazilian mama + one goofy, fun-lovin' queens, new york pops. additionally, i'm the oldest sister to two of the most hilarious gals you'll ever meet, who are also my best friends (and my greatest enemies when good articles of clothing go missing).------>(michelle & shannon)
i also have a younger brother by the name of brandon and a handful of step siblings. one day i'm going to draw a proper family tree and it will explain everything.
i like naps. a lot. and i'm not a huge matt damon fan. george clooney on the other hand. well. nevermind that.
in college, i studied theater. in my snuggie mostly.

needless to say, i love to sing. and act. but more so i loves to write. i'm real a wannabe playwright. if only i weren't napping so much and/or working all the time (or watching awful reality TV twenty/four/seven), i'd probably be as gangster as arthur miller by now. maybe not. but then again, maybe.
when i'm not daydreaming about produced plays and shiny gold stickers that start with a "P", i dream about being a professional blogger, about being a mother, about being some lucky chap's bad ass wife someday (lucky chap.. where are you???), about running the best g damn restaurant in town with the world's greatest staff, about being a rave dj, & about traveling the WHOLE world.
only the coolest of the cool know about ventura and where exactly it is located (not in the valley, thank you!) and that's because ventura is COOL. really, it's a charming little coastal town with tons of history and great surf. i lived there practically my whole life, but very recently, i did something kinda crazy...
i moved to new york.
why? because i really wanted to! what am i doing here? living!
some words about this blog:
it all started HERE with 3 goals in mind:
1. explore the ever-so intriguing world of bloggging.
2. take a year to focus on myself. (remain single.)
3. move to new york.
i am a huge advocate for welcoming change and chasing the unknown.
i believe success is working hard, finishing the things you start and challenging yourself on a regular basis. but above all, i believe success is doing what you love. as long as you are doing what you love, i believe everything else good will follow.
this blog is about tracking my journey in New York, but it is also about tracking my journey as a young female lady--- trying to make my way in this world on my own terms, while remembering to smile, stand up straight, say thank you, and not take things too seriously along the way.
however self-indulgent this blog may be, my intention is not to just talk about myself way too much, but to establish a community. a work space. an outlet of sorts. a personal cubbie of memories and reminders that life is sweet.
if you're here and you're reading along, i'm tickled. i hope you'll stay awhile and venture on this journey with me. Your company means a lot. And so does all your feedback! :)
cheers,
punky

ReplyDeleteI live in NY and you would love it. It's a fun place. Ironically, I want to live in CA, if even for a few years ;)
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog, and I love it already!
ReplyDeleteI live in Upstate NY, about 3 hours away from the city. So excited that another blogger will be on the East coast soon.
Too many bloggers on the West coast!
So true Alissa! :) I'm an hour North from NYC <3 Nice to meet you :)
DeleteI think we'd make great friends.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
Because..1. "I am a huge advocate for welcoming change and chasing the unknown."
And because 2. You're moving to my city (I live an hour outside NYC) :) And we could someday, somehow just bump into each other ;)
we are twinners! I am also the product of a hot brazilian mamma & an american dad from Long Beach, CA. I grew up in SD and have since moved to Utah. Let's be friends!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog and I love it already! That's so exciting that you moved to New York! I moved to "the city" aka Toronto, Ontario about a year ago and I still haven't got out and enjoyed it enough. I can't wait to read more about your journey :)

Hi - Just found your blog! Loving the look & feel of it already :)
ReplyDeleteLove the blog and following your journey... I'm making a big move from east coast to San Francisco and your stories all inspire me tons. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete- tianna :)
It's always nice to "meet" other Brazilian or Brazilian-related bloggers! How fun that you get to live in NY. I moved to SF and have been here ever since.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Very nice to meet you, Jen! I read the whole About me page on one breath and I was thinking along the way "This lady is so enthusiastic and adventurous - just like us! We should be friends!" We just moved across the ocean, too. Now we reside in the Rockies and in our plans/daydreaming we're moving to NYC in a couple of years when we get tired of bears and glaciers (does it ever happen??). Well, I'm glad I found your blog, lets be friends :-)
ReplyDeleteKatie (and Ben - but he is sleeping right now))
HOT ! HOT ! HOT !
